Is this just the newbies, or am I included in this discussion?
Aarikku
Everyone.

Well, I have so many ideas that I've gotta filter them. I wanna say Spiders, but we already have insectoids and Scorpions.
Aarikku
I have no problem with a Spider theme... but you're right; there are a lot of exo-skeletony themes already.
Naardaas
I like invertebrates - you can't break bones if you don't have them. Besides, then I could write up Chimera Spider, in honor of the Canadian Spider of the same name.
Aarikku
*sigh* Because a theme just isn't complete without a Chimera.
Naardaas
This one is a genetic Chimera. You know what those are.
This particuar one is a hybrid of a large Barn Spider and a Jumping Spider some idiot made in the 1980's. They're big, powerful, nasty and aggressive.

Aracniphobia(sp?) slowly rising...
Anyways, what elements are we seriously lacking a them for? I'm think Light and Water, but then again I haven't be around much recently.

I've been giving Light a fair amount of support lately. Zoria, Lord of Light, Diamond Falcon, Cosmic Genie and, of course, Divine God of the Sun - Sola. Archtype-wise, Snails are Light, as are half the Insectoids and Solar Lizards.
Water's got the Snowmen (a half-theme), Grand Frozen Dragon, and I think I threw in a couple themeless fish in Evolutionary Strategies. Archtype-wise, there's frogs.
I don't think we have to worry about supporting all the types anymore. We should still try to balance it, but I think it's possible to make a themeless deck from any type.
Naardaas
Well, I think I'd invoke the philosophy I used for Jordan's Deck in Apocalypse. Let's pick an old card or two which is/are standalones, and make an archetype out of it/them.

I was planing on making a Mech Deck after I'm done the other stuff I've promised to make; but here's the thing, they won't be a Metal type, they'll be a Storm type.
Aarikku
That doesn't make any sense.
Naardaas
Sorta like... how the Majestic Mechs in Yugioh were LIGHT Fairies instead of _____ Machines. I'm not comparing them, I'm using that as a proof of concept.
Naardaas
I thought of something awhile ago. It's not a card idea... more like a set idea. The one thing Shmod doesn't have that other games have is a Starter/Structure Deck. I know that's kinda pointless now, but someday it might be a good idea. Right now I'm working on an idea for one, but nothing's concrete.
Aarikku
Actually, I've designed Character decks. But they're made entirely out of already existing cards, so I never really saw the point in making 'em. Plus, the Extra Cards are all messed up. For example, my Kyle Character Deck needs to have a C/T stack. What's an Element deck without Combinations, right? But compare that to, say, Linlan's deck. No C/T stack, so I used Bamboo Tokens instead. But that'd make the Kyle deck a whole lot better than the Linlan deck.
So, I might end up making a Tyson deck with an alt-art Noble Dragon, Kyle with an alt-art Tetra Element and Linlan with an alt-art Jade Orchid.

Naardaas
Interesting idea. But for now, I'll stick with my idea. I'll let you know if I have a development.
Aarikku
You'd better tell me what your idea is. Stop being secretive about my game.
Naardaas
My plan is a deck that's not themed after a character. Other than that, I'm exactly where I started - nowhere.
Naardaas
I thought of something to balance out the cards. Right now, DARK has Pairogeist to play a double-mana the turn after it's charged. But, to my knowledge, the other types don't have such a creature. I think each type (besides Colourless, for obvious reasons) should have one.
Aarikku
That was my plan. It's just that the drawings I made for them turned out crappy, and it took me a really long time to figure out how to balance Pairogeist.
...Also, Pairogeist was a modified sketch of [Double Wisp], the Fire one, so I'll have to remake Wisp.
Naardaas
Can I make the LIGHT one? I'd like to make a non-Archetype LIGHT card.
Aarikku
No. If I have an idea that's part of a set, I'm doing the whole set.
Naardaas
Okay then. So, what had you come up with for them?
Aarikku
[Double Wisp], [Watercharmer], [Windmill], [Lord Oak], [Mana Fairy], [Pairogeist], [Mana Miner].
Naardaas
And all the same effect?
Aarikku
Yep.
Naardaas
Huh. With the Cost 2 Revival cards, each had a slightly different requirement. I guess this is a little more difficult to make varied.
Aarikku
It's not hard to make varied; it's hard to make varied without one being substantially better than the other six.
Naardaas
I thought that was implied.
Aarikku
It's hard to imply with text.
Naardaas
Anyway, when I asked that, I was hoping for some descriptions.
Aarikku
Descriptions of what? Effects? They're exactly the same as Pair-o-geist.
Naardaas
Physical Appearance. You said you were unhappy with the sketches, but surely you know what you want them to look like.
Aarikku
Double Wisp WAS Pair-o-geist on fire. Watercharmer was a girl with a staff. Windmill... yeah. Lord Oak was Bryan's, originally, it's a tree. Mana Fairy's a fairy. Mana Miner's a robot holding the mana-shape crystal.
Naardaas
Huh. Well, that's really simple.
Aarikku
Indeed.
Naardaas
So, I take it they'll be going in Timeline?
Aarikku
Generally there's a reason why I don't make cards. In this instance, it's the art. So if I redraw them, yes they will.
Naardaas
Cool. They'll go well in the set.
Aarikku
They're themeless. No more than any other set. ...And they don't even involve the messed-up timelines like Leric the Noble Rider.
Naardaas
Not every card in a set has to follow that set's theme. They go great because they're all released close together (at the same time in fact).
Aarikku
Except for Pair-o-geist.
Naardaas
Right. Except for Pair-o-Geist.
Aarikku
...Yes.
