This booster set features cards from alternate time periods of the Shmod world - namely the future. Timeline includes a Combination-based archetype based on Core monsters - masked cyborg warriors powered by energy cores. Also coming through the temporal rips are Orb Spirits - defenders of ancient Shmod!

Hm... I like the idea of futuristic creatures. Just an idea here; can there be a Core Repairer among them?

Maybe... why?

It just makes sense. Anything robotic needs something to repair it. Except the T-X.

Aarikku

It just seems unnecessary - and a repairer's a weird thing to ask for. 'Specially from you. Aren't you interested about a Core Dragon?

Naardaas

Not really. Dragons have their uses, but we really haven't hit a good one among these Archetypes. Besides, I have my own project to work on with Dragons.

You're bloody kidding me right?

I don't see why not.

You do realize that's hypocrisy, right? You criticize me for suggesting Dragons where they don't belong, and then you MAKE one where it doesn't belong.

Aarikku

I only criticize you about dragons because, out of all the Monsters you've made for Shmod that are in sets, how many AREN'T Dragons?

0. NONE. In fact, the only three monsters you've even drawn that aren't Dragons are two foxes and an alligator.

Me, I've made 334 cards, 21 of which are dragons. Not to mention that the reason why I make so many dragons is because you and Pyrah like them.

Will there be any references to Vlad Tepes among the Vampires?

I assume that's Vlad the Impaler? I hadn't planned on it - since Zywen's using it, there are more girls than guys. Oh, and Vampires are ridiculously hard to draw (being mostly ordinary people; my one true weakness), so again with the making no promises.

Every artist has their own way to make Vampires their own. What's yours?

Generally pale people, sorta gothicky-royal robes, elfish ears, and I try to bring attention to the fangs, but it's hard considering the size of the mouths on my style of character.

I tend to accent the bat-like features - you know, long ears, odd noses and black eyes.

Aarikku

You mean the whites of the eyes are black? The irises are normally red on a traditional vampire.

My style, my rules.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the Vampires in Bloodlines look more like what I described, and they're my main source.

Aarikku

I dunno what Vampire media I use as a source... I've only seen Buffy and Van Helsing, but my vampires don't look like either.

Are you familiar with Bloodlines?

Nope.

Do you have any plans for themeless cards in this set? Because I have a few themeless cards I don't want to put in Apocalypse Sets.

Aarikku

Keep your cards in your own sets, k? I want to keep things separate so that if I ever start producing these, and - for example - I don't want to print some card Bryan made because it doesn't look too good, I don't have to replace it.

No offence, but it's the same principle for your cards, just less extreme.

Well, I'll have to come up with another outlet for them. Because a few of them are cards that probably won't even appear in Apocalypse.

OR, if you wanted, I could just give you a sketch and you could do what you want with it.

And for the original question; besides re-arts, any plans for new themeless cards?

No specifically planned ones, but I think themeless cards pop up often enough to expect a few.

For now, I'll continue to store new ideas in All-Purpose Shmod Cards in the CaC forum. If you get inspiration from them, that might help. Of not, oh well.

You mostly made draw cards, which Shmod doesn't need at all.

I'm making new cards besides those original 3. My focus has shifted to destruction, Arena support, and things as such.

There's a fair amount of destruction cards too.

Rarity subject to change, or it might not even go in the set. I dunno yet.

So, how are the cards for Timelines coming together?

Slowly, as most Humanoid-based cards do.

Ah yes, you hate drawing people. And anthropomorphic figures. Well I'm with ya there.

I should've just made the Core Warriors Leric-style people -_-;

That woulda worked. Virtual and core are both along the cybernetic lineage. It's not too late to make the rest of them Leric-like though.

That'd be weird if some were realistic and some were Leric-style - and these Core guys wouldn't have worked Leric-style anyway. Some of the Combination monsters are really complex.

Naardaas

Cards in a series can look really different from each other, provided they share common aspects. But if the (C) Cores are complex, then maybe it's best to leave them like this. I dunno.

It is. The key feature of Cores is the energy core in their gut-area, and Leric characters don't really have a distinction between different parts of torso.

It took me forever to come up with a Field searcher that didn't involve terraforming.

I figured I needed to figure out what 'Shmod' actually referred to. A world (or continent or island or whatever) is as good as anything. And it turns out I forgot The Frozen Cliffs... alas.

Now all you need are cards for parallel realities.

One thing even I don't understand are the Virtual monsters. They were supposed to exist in Cyberspace, but their Stadium is actually part of the world map.

One thing I've learned to be true is that truth is stranger than fiction. And that truth based on fiction, or fiction based on truth, is stranger than either. Come up with any piece of crap answer, support it, and say "my game, my rules".

Not too good. And with school coming up soon, it probably won't be for a while.

Noone. I'm just guessing that because you have a very busy schedule now, you don't have time to create new cards.

Man, those Cores are Badass. I can see them doing some real damage in the Shmod Metagame.

If only we HAD a Metagame.

Alas, we need more players. But assuming we had one, they WOULD be pretty powerful.

Indeed. If only there were a way for you to get Lackey. Or play Shmod without it.

Yeah, I wish there was. But downloading Lackey would take too long and there is no way to play without it. So for now I'm stuck.

Any new ideas for the set?

New ideas, not really. I wouldn't mind getting Chimera of Fate's attack in here, and I think if I do make some alternate arts, I'll make a more futuristic Fusion Technique.

I'm surprised you didn't give the Vampires the category of the same name, especially since VAMPIRISM is an effect term.

Didn't see the point. Referring to a Vampire isn't really that much easier than referring to a Monster with Vampirism. Plus, I don't have as much Category room as I had originally thought, as the Cores keep reminding me.
