Molten Archetype

[Molten]s are an Archetype with effects that activate upon the destruction of specific cards. Some are upgrades on existing cards, others new cards altogether.

(Level Seven) Molten Sigma Dragon (Fire/Earth)
Category: (C) Lava - Dragon
Text: [Sigma Dragon] + 1 Level 3 or higher EARTH monster
This card can only be played with [Molten Forging]. If this card destroys a monster in combat, inflict 1 damage to your opponent. If this card is destroyed, play 1 [Sigma Dragon] from either Vanished Zone, ignoring the summoning requirements.

(Level Seven) Molten Ore Dragon (Fire/Metal)
Category: (C) Lava - Dragon
Text: [Titanium Dragon] + 1 Level 3 or higher FIRE monster
This card can only be played with [Molten Forging]. Immunity to spells. Destroy 1 Lava Monster: add its original STK to this card until the End Phase.

(Level Two) Molten Hatchling (Fire)
Category: Lava - Dragon
Text: When Fusing to create [Molten Sigma Dragon], this card in play can be treated as [Sigma Dragon] by tapping (1).

(Level Three) Molten Soldier (Fire)
Catergory: Lava
Effect: Any cards destroyed in combat by this card can be removed from play.

(Level Three) Molten Fossil (Fire)
Catergory: Lava
Effect: Any cards destroyed in combat by this card can be returned to the top of the opponent's deck, instead of going to the discard pile.

(Level Two) Molten Frog (Water/Fire)
Category: Lava- Frog
Effect: When this card is destroyed, draw 1 card. If [Molten Minefield] destroyed this card, draw 2 cards instead.

(Level One) Molten Rex (Fire)
Category: Lava
Flavour Text: A gigantic Dinosaur roaming the volcanic heartland that spawned it. It attacks its prey with its magma jaws.

Category: Lava
Effect: If this card destroys a monster by battle, it gains 500 ATK.

(Level One) Molten Roc (Fire)
Category: Lava
Effect: If this card destroys a monster by battle, destroy it.

(Level Two) Molten Phoenix (Fire)
Category: Lava
Effect: If this card is destroyed, summon it back with 500 less ATK than when it was destroyed. If its ATK would be 0, this effect cannot be used.

(Level One) Molten Tadpole (Fire/Water)
Category: Lava - Tadpole
Effect: Destroy this card with either [Molten Minefield] or [Frog Pond] in play. Play 1 [Molten Frog] from your Hand or Deck.

(Level Two) Armageddon Eruption
Spell
Effect: Lower the STK of 1 Lava Monster by 1000, 2000 or 3000. For each multiple of 1000 ATK lowered, destroy 1  card. Then, both players take 1 damage.

(Level Two) Molten Forging
Spell
Vanish the Combination-Material Monsters on a (C) Lava Monster from your side of the Field or either Graveyard, and play that (C) Lava Monster.

(Level Three) Molten Minefield
Field Spell
You can pay this card's Mana cost by discarding Lava creatures totaling 3+ Mana costs. Non-Lava monsters lose 100 STK x their Mana Cost. Once per turn, you can destroy a Lava creature to destroy a card play.

(Level Two) Magma Wall
Permanent Spell
Scrap 1 Lava monster to negate the attack of a monster with a Lower Cost. Vanish this card and [Molten Minefield] to destroy all Level 2 or Lower monsters in play.


(Level Two) Molten Blast
Trap
Destroy 1 Lava Monster and 2 other cards in play.

(Level Two) Lava Stream
Permanent Trap
When you play this card and during each of your Untap Phases, put 1 Counter on this card. Vanish this card; add points to 1 Lava Creature equal to the number of counters this card had on it x1000 until the End Phase.

Neh... it sounds cool, but Shmod needs cards that are easy to play. If you want to finish Molten Sigma Dragon, go for it, but without Fusion substitutes, it'd likely never get played. (Assuming it gets in the game)

Huh... didn't notice you edited this.

I'm not a fan, for reasons I expressed earlier. It's hard to play, though it's interesting that my Mountain Golem could become a volcano.

Molten Hatchling is nifty, but Forging makes it seem like you've never seen Re-Fusion before.

I've seen Re-Fusion, and I worded Forging as I did so that it would be easier to use.

Also, I do like the idea of Mountain Golem becoming a Volcanic Dragon.

Now that the Archetype is putting itself together, its pretty easy to see how it works.

I don't see why you're saying [Molten] monster while you gave them the Lava category. I made categories for just that reason, y'know.

Your reluctance to make monsters without ridiculous ATK is impressive. I don't have any problem with it, it just seems unnecessary.

I like it. Again, very unnecessary.

Perhaps you should make it "While this card is in play".

Destroyed in combat against Molten Soldier or at all? It seems detrimental to the theme, what with Molten Forging able to fuse things from the Graveyard.

What's to say? It's the Level One Beatstick of the theme.

Lower its ATK a little. By turn two, a player could have a 2700-ATK monster. The opponent would be screwed without some ridiculous combo, since all Level Two monsters have 2600 or less ATK.

Effect: If this card destroys a monster by battle, destroy it.

It's a better version of Unstable Pyrodon, which is already a great card.

(Level Two) Molten Phoenix
Category: Lava
Effect: If this card is destroyed, summon it back with 500 less ATK than when it was destroyed. If its ATK would be 0, this ffect cannot be used.

Pretty good. In Yugioh, it'd be broken, methinks, but it's fine in a game without Tribute monsters.

(Level Three) Armageddon Eruption
Spell
Effect: Lower the ATK of 1 Lava Monster by multiples of 1000. For each multiple of 1000 ATK lowered, draw 1 card. Then, send all cards in your Deck to the Graveyard.

...Uh... okay. Sure.

(Level Three) Molten Forging
Spell
Remove the Fusion-Material Monsters on a Lava Fusion Monster, or one that includes Lava in its category, from play from your Field or either Graveyard, and Fusion Summon that Fusion Monster.

Looks good. Three might be a bit high for its Level, though.

(Level Three) Molten Minefield
Field Spell
You can pay this card's Mana cost by discarding Lava creatures totaling 3+ Mana costs. Non-Lava monsters lose 100 ATK x their Mana Cost. Once per turn, you can destroy a Lava creature to destroy a face-up card.

I like it. Nice work.

(Level Two) Molten Blast
Trap
Destroy 1 Lava Monster and 2 other cards in play.

Look! It's Icarus Attack! Nah, but it's cool.


Again, your theme has ridiculously high Levels, meaning the deck is almost useless for the first few turns.

(Female Voice) First, the Fossil. It is a form of Shmod lock; opponents cannot get anywhere because they draw the same bloody cards over and over again. OR they are forced to draw out their best monster to deal with it, making it vulnerable to Minefield's effect.

(Male Voice) The frog is suppost to be used as an easy method of destruction; chuck it in the volcanic geysers that act as Mines for the field, geyser erupts destroying monster, you draw 2 cards. In theory a little to easy to use, but in theory so are your frogs, so its the T.A.D.P.O.L.E. Calling the Des Frog black.

I know I said this archetype was complete, but I lied. It's not finished, and if you look closely, you can see there are new cards.
