I simply love it! It's festive, it's balance and it's a great deal. 4/5. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la. _________________ The seal on my existence is broken. I've always been proud of how a Shmod card's effect almost always matches what it is. Bounteous Dragon loots in the form of drawing cards, Hungry Panda is full for longer if it eats Bamboo, Captain Taro recruits the rest of his crew, the equally-festive Snowmen cards turn into smaller Snowmen when struck, etc.
Christmas Tree is no exception. It might've been more similar to actual Christmas if the players selected cards from their decks for their opponent, but then it would be a fairly bad card.
"Hurrah! You got me Fusion Technique, but I don't have any Fusions!"
"You got me Heir Dragonling, but I don't own Noble Dragon!"
This way, Santa gets you exactly what you want. Whether it's an Element absent for a mega fusion, a key card for a combo, an Order Up to summon a big creature, if you've got it in your deck, Christmas Tree can get it for you.
If that was it, this card would have a 5 or higher out of 5. Even if you don't actually get the card if Christmas Tree is destroyed. However, your opponent gets the same key advantage. The spirit of giving is great for the holidays, but helping your opponent is exactly what card games aren't about. 3/5 from me.
